I'm trying to take over a nick that it's over 15 weeks without use, is that possible?
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:51:24
dalvarez: hi, probably, your current one?
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:51:40
Fuchs, yes
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:51:47
oh
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:51:51
hm, that is the account name
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:51:56
so I'm afraid it is not expired :/
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:52:19
Fuchs, ahhh ok I saw that it was >15 weeks without use and thought that it was already expired
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:52:32
dalvarez: yeah, but for account names I'm afraid the "User seen" also counts
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:52:38
and as per that, it is not expired, sorry
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:53:19
Fuchs, are you sure? then if I keep on using it then it will never expire..
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:53:38
dalvarez: the "user seen" means that the person is logged in to it, just from a different nick
Speiros 2017-02-28 02:53:42
dalvarez I don't think he means seen by you, but seen by the owner.
Speiros 2017-02-28 02:53:48
^
Speiros 2017-02-28 02:53:51
Sorry Fuchs
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:53:58
dalvarez: and due to that, it is still considered in use
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:54:37
ah ok thanks a lot... and is it possible for me to know for how long it's been unused?
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:55:02
Fuchs, Speiros and also try to reach out to him just in case he doesn't use it? Apparently last use was >15 weeks so I'd like to reach out
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:55:18
dalvarez: nickserv info should show you that, hang on
Speiros 2017-02-28 02:55:28
I'm not staffer mate:)
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:56:07
dalvarez: see the NickServ(NickServ@services.)- User seen : now line in nickserv info
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:56:25
dalvarez: I'm afraid I can't tell you where the user logs in from, as that would be disclosing private information, but you can try to poke them via memoserv
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:56:27
Fuchs, yes i thought that was me because I'm using that name
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:56:28
see /msg memoserv help send
Fuchs 2017-02-28 02:56:34
dalvarez: no, I'm afraid not
dalvarez 2017-02-28 02:56:53
Fuchs thanks a lot.. will he read my message on memoserv even though he is not using it?
Devon_ 2017-02-28 02:57:20
#hi there. My employer has their own node version that I (the intern) have been asked to install. I downloaded and installed it but I'm not sure how to switch my current repos from regular node to our node. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How to show a list of all availible channels?
tinyhippo 2017-02-28 03:03:17
Guest32518: I would not recommend doing that, you'll likely be disconnected from the server for flooding (there are LOTS of channels)
marchis 2017-02-28 03:03:26
good day everybody, would you please cloak my nick?
tinyhippo 2017-02-28 03:03:39
Guest32518: a better idea is to search for what you're looking for using 'alis'
tinyhippo 2017-02-28 03:03:46
Guest32518: if you do /query alis help list
tinyhippo 2017-02-28 03:03:50

tinyhippo 2017-02-28 03:03:58

Devon_ 2017-02-28 03:04:30
sorry, nodeJS
Devon_ 2017-02-28 03:04:53
like what you install with npm
Fuchs 2017-02-28 03:04:56

Hey there, I'm using tox to run my project tests and it's using an old pip version from the system (1.5.6). Any idea how I can tell it to use a newer version? If I create a virtualenv manually (`python3 -m virtualenv /tmp/venv`) I also get pip 1.5.6 installed. How can I get a new version when the virtualenv is created? Do I need to run `pip install --upgrade pip` after the venv is created?
Pici 2017-02-28 03:24:13
sephii: Hi, try #python

hi ;)
altest 2017-02-28 04:01:29
is there any point to jump via tor sasl ?
altest 2017-02-28 04:01:41
dont many exits get banned server wide?
DarkWolf 2017-02-28 04:04:14
Hey
eph 2017-02-28 04:04:57
hi can I take a nick that's been inactive for 18 weeks?
mquin 2017-02-28 04:05:18
altest: we don't support connections from exit nodes at all. TOR-SASL uses a hidden service address
altest 2017-02-28 04:05:37
yes
altest 2017-02-28 04:06:01
however say I went via hassle of doing it and then most channels have all tor exits banned?
altest 2017-02-28 04:06:04
which means its rather useless?
mquin 2017-02-28 04:06:45
I'm not aware of many channels having banned tor-sasl, but you can check the ban lists of the channels that are important to you and see if they have
altest 2017-02-28 04:06:46
or there is a special mask ?
thumbs 2017-02-28 04:06:49
altest: I wouldn't say that most channels ban tor-sasl
dhavalchauhan 2017-02-28 04:07:09
@mquin Can the nick "dhaval" be de-allocated ?
mquin 2017-02-28 04:07:17
and if they have, you can talk to the channel operators about reviewing such bans or providing exemptions
mquin 2017-02-28 04:07:22
dhavalchauhan, eph: /nick to it then ask
altest 2017-02-28 04:07:40
how I can check channel ban list?
mquin 2017-02-28 04:07:47
altest: /mode #channel b
mquin 2017-02-28 04:08:58
dhavalchauhan: if that was the nick you wanted you need to stay on it
dhaval 2017-02-28 04:09:41
@mquin It says "This nickname is registered. Please choose a different nickname"
mquin 2017-02-28 04:09:47
dhaval: that's fine
ephy 2017-02-28 04:09:50
hi can I take this nick that's been inactive for 18 weeks?
dhaval 2017-02-28 04:10:46
@mquin Sorry for the lame question, But does this mean this nick has been allocated to me ?
mquin 2017-02-28 04:10:46
ephy: Dropped. Do '/msg NickServ group' to add it to your account
ephy 2017-02-28 04:10:53
thanksss
mquin 2017-02-28 04:10:55
dhaval: that's not yet expired
tonymec|away 2017-02-28 04:11:41
I live in Brussels, Belgium. Usually I got connected via hobana in Bucharest (and not one of the servers in France, the UK, Germany or the Netherlands) which is already some distance away. But today my IRC connection is via cherryh.freenode.net in Montreal, all the way across the Atlantic. What gives?
dhaval 2017-02-28 04:11:42
@mquin Thanks for the help
mquin 2017-02-28 04:12:11
tonymec|away: we change which servers are in rotation from time to time
mquin 2017-02-28 04:12:37
tonymec|away: global connectivity is typically good enough that it doesn't matter which server you land on for practical purposes
thumbs 2017-02-28 04:15:00
tonymec|away: not to mention that your route to Montreal might be better than the one to the Netherlands, even!
thumbs 2017-02-28 04:15:20
(on that note, away nicknames are evil)
tinyhippo 2017-02-28 04:15:40
tonymec|away: freenode done use geographic dns, its a roundrobin, you could end up routed via anywhere! also, latency doesn't matter for irc
