Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:46:15
where should i ask general IRC-related questions ? .. i'd like to know something particlar about the use of client certs
thumbs 2017-02-24 05:46:31
Daiwo: here is fine.
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:46:54
ok thanks
CrazyTux 2017-02-24 05:47:01
ok. I got registered myself here.
CrazyTux 2017-02-24 05:47:29
Daiwo, thanks a lot.
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:47:38
I currently use one single Client certs to NS auth to all irc servers
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:47:46
@CrazyTux  np
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:48:09
i hate dondold trimp
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:48:23
[Duke]: no politics in here please
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:48:28
"dondold trimp"
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:48:30
lmao
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:48:48
[Duke]: we all know who you are referring to so i suggest you drop it please.
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:48:57
orange lives do not matter.
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:49:03
emerson:
rob0 2017-02-24 05:49:13
Regardless how you spell it, it's not a matter to discuss here.
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:49:19
uh oh.
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:49:22
@thumbs  this got me wonder shouldn't it be preferable to use a seperate cert for each account ... (in the context of preventing any irc server from correlating all of my accounts with that single certs)
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:49:25
hi
ASV 2017-02-24 05:49:57
I would like to get an unaffiliated cloak. Is there someone I should message or should I ask here?
emerson 2017-02-24 05:50:18
Daiwo: irc networks don't usually collaborate to link users, that would be a waste of time for us
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:50:20
ASV: staff should be around just hang out here for a moment
rob0 2017-02-24 05:50:22
ASV, ask here -- which you just did -- and wait.
swarfega 2017-02-24 05:50:25
i dont know why people have started using @ in irc to highlight users because it doesnt work, in fact in some clients it will prevent the highlight from working
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:50:36
Club Penguin is closing, 2017 was bad enough already
ASV 2017-02-24 05:50:49
rob0 thank you
emerson 2017-02-24 05:51:15
ASV: it won't work on webchat, just fyi
Pici 2017-02-24 05:51:16
swarfega: because thats how it works on twitter
emerson 2017-02-24 05:51:21
and slack
swarfega 2017-02-24 05:51:23
yea but not on irc
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:51:39
@emerson  ok. but what suppose an irc user would like to prevent any possible server-side correlation . is this a common practice to use different client certificate per account ? and mostly .. can it be done ?
ASV 2017-02-24 05:51:41
i see. it'll still work with regular clients though, correct?
swarfega 2017-02-24 05:51:51
no
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:51:53
it's more out of curiousity than actual intentional use
swarfega 2017-02-24 05:51:55
doesnt work with mine
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:51:57
ASV: it will work on anything but webchat
emerson 2017-02-24 05:52:10
Daiwo: it can be, sure
ASV 2017-02-24 05:52:17
Zppix alright
Pachurter 2017-02-24 05:52:17
hello, may I have an unaffiliated cloak? Thanks! :-)
emerson 2017-02-24 05:52:30
Daiwo: most clients can specify different certs per server
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:52:32
but I do feel a little dumb to use the same client certificate while using 3 different identity on irc
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:52:36
holy crap
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:52:42
Pachurter: emerson will be able to assist with that, but be aware it won't work on webchat.freenode.net
[Duke] 2017-02-24 05:52:43
its all because of trump
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:53:02
[Duke]: Politics are off topic please do not discuss that here
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:53:03
sound kinda counter productive to me.. but i'm just so new with all this
ng0 2017-02-24 05:53:30
hi, my nickserv account name equals to the vhost part, correct? if so, can someone please change the niasterisk part to 'ng0' as I want to drop the other nick. thanks
emerson 2017-02-24 05:53:32
ASV: and do you want it to be unaffiliated/asv or unaffiliated/silverzip
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:53:35
@emerson.. ok thanks ! that was pretty much my main question.. I guess I need to change client
ASV 2017-02-24 05:53:49
emerson: unaffiliated/silverzip please
emerson 2017-02-24 05:54:04
okay, done
ASV 2017-02-24 05:54:16
thank you very much
emerson 2017-02-24 05:54:51
who else wanted cloaks
Pachurter 2017-02-24 05:54:55
me :)
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:55:02
@emerson  seems like mirc doesn't provide that feature natively.. does it ? ... http://i.imgur.com/MdCvXH6.png
emerson 2017-02-24 05:55:03
right
emerson 2017-02-24 05:55:18
Pachurter: cloaked you
ng0 2017-02-24 05:55:29
or how else am I supposed to change the account name from NiAsterisk to ng0 so that I can drop 'NiAsterisk' ?
Pachurter 2017-02-24 05:55:31
emerson: thank you!
emerson 2017-02-24 05:55:40
ng0: i can look into that
emerson 2017-02-24 05:55:44
Pachurter: no problem :)
ng0 2017-02-24 05:55:48
emerson: thanks :)
SnaKKo 2017-02-24 05:55:55
cloack me please :)
dax 2017-02-24 05:56:00
ng0: /msg nickserv help set accountname will change accountname so you can drop. cloak change is on emerson.
dax 2017-02-24 05:56:08
s/drop/ungroup/
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:56:18
hello dax!
ng0 2017-02-24 05:56:19
ah.. thanks
emerson 2017-02-24 05:56:22
setting the accountname and reconnecting via tor will change the tor cloak
emerson 2017-02-24 05:56:34
i can change the unaffiliated cloak though
dax 2017-02-24 05:56:40
oh, didn't notice the Tor bit
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:57:38
seems obvious to me that there is most likely a way to auto trigger some "perform" command to load specific client cert uppon connecting to NS using any specified account..
SnaKKo 2017-02-24 05:57:50
emerson: i asked for a cloak, thanks a lot
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:57:57
but thats a little too advanced stuff for me to guess .... anyone ?
emerson 2017-02-24 05:58:08
SnaKKo: cloaked
emerson 2017-02-24 05:58:15
Daiwo: could ask in ##mirc
SnaKKo 2017-02-24 05:58:16
thanks
Daiwo 2017-02-24 05:58:28
thanks
SnaKKo 2017-02-24 05:58:34
have a great day :)
Zppix 2017-02-24 05:58:42
SnaKKo: you too
ng0 2017-02-24 05:58:43
okay, it worked. thanks.
emerson 2017-02-24 05:58:43
you too!
the8thbit 2017-02-24 06:02:18
Hello. Does anyone here use ethereum/can help me with my DAO withdraw? The #ethereum channels are silent
FACILITY_GUY 2017-02-24 06:05:22
can I have cloak please?
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:06:23
emerson: ^
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:06:48
the8thbit: i suggest to try to google your question or use the website of ethereum (if there is one)
the8thbit 2017-02-24 06:07:33
Zppix: Thanks, google was my first stop, but I think I might have to find someone to send me a small amount of ETH to pay for the gas cost. Not sure tho
emerson 2017-02-24 06:08:33
FACILITY_GUY: cloaked you
FACILITY_GUY 2017-02-24 06:10:02
emerson, thanks, it's ok if I still the IP?
rob0 2017-02-24 06:10:21
hm?
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:10:29
FACILITY_GUY: the cloak will work no matter what as long as you're not using webchat.freenode.net
emerson 2017-02-24 06:10:54
FACILITY_GUY: yea, no one else can see it besides you and staff
rob0 2017-02-24 06:11:00
"/msg nickserv info", yes, you will always see your IP, but others checking info would not.
FACILITY_GUY 2017-02-24 06:11:24
emerson, Zppix, Thanks :)
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:11:33
no problem
nop 2017-02-24 06:20:26
'sup. There is an SASL user trying to identify to my nick a lot (52 and counting) so I get a lot of SaslServ notices. Is there a way to make them stop without ignoring the SaslServ notices in my client?
dax 2017-02-24 06:20:45
nope
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:20:52
nop: change your password /msg nickserv set password newpassword
dax 2017-02-24 06:21:02
that's unlikely to be relevant
dax 2017-02-24 06:21:24
by "trying" i assume it's failed login attempts
thumbs 2017-02-24 06:21:24
nop: some clients can ignore sasl failures only.
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:21:35
nop: disregard i misread
dax 2017-02-24 06:21:50
i have a weechat filter that hides them from the specific person that does it a bunch of times a day
dax 2017-02-24 06:21:58
so if anyone else does it i still notice
dax 2017-02-24 06:22:12
so yeah, afaik there is no better way
thumbs 2017-02-24 06:22:19
dax: sorry, I'll stop trying to identify to dax.
nop 2017-02-24 06:22:19
dax > That's what I want.
nop 2017-02-24 06:22:26
I guess I'll try something like that.
nop 2017-02-24 06:22:52
Thanks for the suggestion.
sianko 2017-02-24 06:22:53
i cannot download build from lineageos website. server issue?
thumbs 2017-02-24 06:23:23
sianko: identify to your account (/msg NickServ help identify) and join #lineageos
sianko 2017-02-24 06:23:43
sorry first time on irc... bit confused
dax 2017-02-24 06:23:44
and if you don't already have an account, https://freenode.net/kb/answer/registration
gimp335 2017-02-24 06:23:59
Hi, I'd like to request a cloak.
dax 2017-02-24 06:24:04
sianko: it's all good. you ended up in the general network help channel for freenode, which does channel hosting for LineageOS and a tonne of other projects
sianko 2017-02-24 06:24:22
thank, i will try to get grasp on it
dax 2017-02-24 06:24:27
so once you get an account set up (since LineageOS's channel is marked by them as registered-users only) you can /join #lineageos to talk to them
dax 2017-02-24 06:24:33
gimp335: looking, sec
dax 2017-02-24 06:25:04
gimp335: doneski
Activelistener95 2017-02-24 06:25:37
Hi all, how can I change my log in info on irccloud.com?
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:25:55
Activelistener95: wrong channel
gimp335 2017-02-24 06:26:03
dax: thank you.
Activelistener95 2017-02-24 06:26:18
Apologies, can you direct me to the right channel?
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:26:47
Activelistener95: https://www.irccloud.com/#?/feedback
Activelistener95 2017-02-24 06:27:51
Thank you, I'm still a newbie at things here, I just got my channel organized and figured out how to work the flags and other stuff so that was a big boost on my confidence
Zppix 2017-02-24 06:28:05
no problem
