#freenode channel featuring dax, amnet, rizon30,

dax 2017-02-28 19:45:27
i don't care whose bots it was, and your insistence on caring makes you tedious
amnet 2017-02-28 19:45:30
That's fine, but it doesn't help solve the problem.
amnet 2017-02-28 19:45:33
Ban the bots.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:45:37
dax i said only once
dax 2017-02-28 19:45:45
so you can't count either then, gotcha
amnet 2017-02-28 19:45:46
Their commander is irrelevant until they connect to the network.
dax 2017-02-28 19:45:49
anything else while you're here
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:45:55
who said i was trying to help solve the problem
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:46:21
i was simply saying
amnet 2017-02-28 19:46:26
If you're not trying to help then you're just being an ass.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:46:31
lol
amnet 2017-02-28 19:46:39
Nobody needs to care about this after the bots are banned.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:46:42
you can simply state something without being an ass
dax 2017-02-28 19:46:49
yawn
dax 2017-02-28 20:01:25
Rage_Banken: looking, sec
dax 2017-02-28 20:02:05
Rage_Banken: done, it's active now and will activate on future connections when you identify to NickServ
dax 2017-02-28 20:04:08
Rage_Banken: you don't really "do anything" with cloaks, they just change your hostname
dax 2017-02-28 20:04:20
so yours is now "unaffiliated/rage-banken/x-2555762"
dax 2017-02-28 20:04:47
and when you log into your NickServ account on future connections it'll change it to that again
dax 2017-02-28 20:04:51
Rage_Banken: no worries
dax 2017-02-28 20:06:23
Rage_Banken: if you have the ability to change the PTR record for your current IP address, then you'd set that to your domain and set an A record on your domain to your current IP address
dax 2017-02-28 20:06:25
otherwise, no
dax 2017-02-28 20:06:53
http://freenode.net/kb/answer/cloaks lists cloaking format, it's basically unaffiliated/nickhere unless you have some sort of peer-directed project affiliation and they request one for you
dax 2017-02-28 20:08:27
:)
dax 2017-02-28 20:14:36
RuGaL: hi
dax 2017-02-28 20:15:01
RuGaL: generally 10 weeks of inactivity, with some exceptions
dax 2017-02-28 20:16:07
RuGaL: Yep. If you /nick to it I can drop it so you can group it, if that's what you're wanting
dax 2017-02-28 20:18:34
RuGaL: /nick to it
dax 2017-02-28 20:19:24
RuGaL: change your nick to it and I will drop it for you. I cannot drop it if you are not on it
dax 2017-02-28 20:19:59
yes
dax 2017-02-28 20:20:28
Fahad: good. now do /msg nickserv group
dax 2017-02-28 20:21:03
Fahad: all done, you now have both Fahad and RuGaL on the same account :)
dax 2017-02-28 20:21:38
Fahad: yes
dax 2017-02-28 20:24:19
brimonk: WHOIS with one parameter (local whois) does not have a limit. WHOIS with two parameters (remote whois, which talks to the server the target user is on) is rate-limited server-wide (not per-user) and if you're programmatically using it you should detect and handle rate limiting failures
dax 2017-02-28 20:24:41
brimonk: and to clarify/emphasize: the rate limit there is not on how often your bot uses it, it's on how often any user on the server the bot is on uses it
dax 2017-02-28 20:24:56
hi starrify
dax 2017-02-28 20:31:44
starrify: yes
dax 2017-02-28 20:31:59
starrify: idle time is kept track of by the server that the target user is on. so if you're on the same server, local whois will get it. if not, remote whois is needed

#freenode channel featuring dax, AlgorithmicActor, usersiis, KindOne, laowai, enchi, and 9 others.

laowai 2017-02-28 18:46:41
stop
dax 2017-02-28 18:46:49
hi laowai
naf 2017-02-28 18:46:50
people here know opal?
laowai 2017-02-28 18:47:05
what
naf 2017-02-28 18:47:08
i guess people here would, we're in freenode
naf 2017-02-28 18:47:19
but still
dax 2017-02-28 18:47:42
she used to sit in here and shitpost before she promoted herself to "terminally incapable of using an IRC client for non-stupid reasons" and got k-lined repeatedly
naf 2017-02-28 18:47:56
i have seen opal in some bad parts of the internet
naf 2017-02-28 18:48:17
that's all i'll say on that
AlgorithmicActor 2017-02-28 18:48:33
what were you doing in bad parts of the internet
Dominian 2017-02-28 18:48:45
There are bad parts?
Dominian 2017-02-28 18:48:47
*gasp*
enchi 2017-02-28 18:53:53
naf: i have no idea what opal is
naf 2017-02-28 18:54:00
AlgorithmicActor: some bad parts of the internet are stumbled upon
beaky 2017-02-28 18:54:01
what is opal
beaky 2017-02-28 18:54:03
is it a botnet
enchi 2017-02-28 18:54:09
I'm pretty sure it's a type of stone
beaky 2017-02-28 18:54:15
ah
dax 2017-02-28 18:54:23
can confirm enchi's statement, have played stardew valley
naf 2017-02-28 18:54:27
opal, previously known as wowaname
dax 2017-02-28 18:54:31
there are also fire opals, which are like opals except hot
naf 2017-02-28 18:54:34
or, sometimes better known as*
enchi 2017-02-28 18:54:54
I have not played Stardew Valley
enchi 2017-02-28 18:55:01
I know wowaname
enchi 2017-02-28 18:55:05
Isn't he a nutter
naf 2017-02-28 18:55:08
sounds familiar now right?
enchi 2017-02-28 18:55:15
yes
beaky 2017-02-28 19:00:04
yes sounds interesting
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:04:46
Hi.
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:05:21
Just a question... Possible to make $mode +x ?
thumbs 2017-02-28 19:05:52
BakedAs4: freenode doesn't have that mode, but it has cloaks
thumbs 2017-02-28 19:06:01
BakedAs4: they must be applied by hand by staff members, too.
dax 2017-02-28 19:06:26
which notably don't work on the webchat gateway, so you'd need to use an actual IRC client
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:06:43
dax: aight
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:06:51
Hmm
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:07:31
What is best irc client option 4 debian?
dax 2017-02-28 19:07:33
https://freenode.net/kb/answer/cloaks has details, ask here if you end up wanting an unaffiliated one
dax 2017-02-28 19:07:44
hexchat for GUI, weechat using their debian repository for commandline
thumbs 2017-02-28 19:07:58
or irssi for CLI
dax 2017-02-28 19:08:40
/afk
KindOne 2017-02-28 19:08:46
don't be silly, mIRC+WINE
usersiis 2017-02-28 19:08:56
lol see #debian someone created like 20 nicks and joined them
usersiis 2017-02-28 19:09:43
well they got k-lined
usersiis 2017-02-28 19:09:56
not all tho
beaky 2017-02-28 19:16:53
usersiis yes its amazing how do people have 20 nicks just lying around to use
BakedAs4 2017-02-28 19:21:17
How many times can you say "Oh God" before you're no longer an athiest?
brimonk 2017-02-28 19:24:53
Anyone know how to use POE::Component::IRC to get whois information?
KindOne 2017-02-28 19:31:08
brimonk: ask in #perl ?
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:39:59
wow dax sure gets offended when people talk about opal and since there have been ircops on this network who go to that network and don't even hide it...you kind of think what is going no
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:40:15
on
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:40:28
but those bots where opal
amnet 2017-02-28 19:40:31
dax wasn't offended.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:40:33
whether you wants to say so or not
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:40:38

amnet 2017-02-28 19:41:22
I don't want to call it anything.
violet 2017-02-28 19:41:27
He was neutral
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:41:28
you said yes
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:41:37
well he was being bitchy
amnet 2017-02-28 19:41:41
Yeah, but not because I want to.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:41:42
like a little bitch
violet 2017-02-28 19:41:44
And btw take this to her network then
amnet 2017-02-28 19:41:45
No.
amnet 2017-02-28 19:41:54
Ass is more correct.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:42:10
why take it there when they obviously can't ban me rofl...why not talk about it here kek
amnet 2017-02-28 19:42:20
rizon30: Nobody wants to see you get bent out of shape about this.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:42:28
:)
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:42:51
dax is trying to protect opal...
amnet 2017-02-28 19:42:56
No.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:43:00
yes he is
amnet 2017-02-28 19:43:07
Nobody here has said anything good about opal.
amnet 2017-02-28 19:43:17
The discussion wasn't shut down and you weren't censored.
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:43:43
well that is good to know
dax 2017-02-28 19:43:47
lol you're back
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:43:50
at least he did not do that
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:43:53
hi yes
dax 2017-02-28 19:43:53
rizon30: opal's a fuckwit and i've never been on her server
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:43:57
lol
dax 2017-02-28 19:44:14
any other wrong stuff you need correcting?
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:44:30
well don't get your tities upset when someone with facts simply says it was his bots
rizon30 2017-02-28 19:44:45
im saying cause i know that was it

ping christel mquin niko dax Fuchs
gry 2017-02-28 18:19:10
amnet forced /part is for bots, which autorejoin on kick. so that they can be removed without banning them. a more mild measure
dax 2017-02-28 18:19:21
s/bots/fuckwits/
dax 2017-02-28 18:19:26
koobs: sure, PM me the user and cloak
gry 2017-02-28 18:19:42
dax yes sometimes people do it too which is rather silly
gry 2017-02-28 18:20:10
i personally like a script which detects autorejoin on kick and reacts by a kickban
dax 2017-02-28 18:20:49
yeah, my preferred solution to autorejoin on kick is trying again with preventative measures against rejoin
koobs 2017-02-28 18:23:48
dax: Thank you!
dax 2017-02-28 18:24:55
lol surreptitious
thumbs 2017-02-28 18:25:12
um, is anyone else seeing raphida* flood join/part?
thumbs 2017-02-28 18:25:33
40+ clients at once, albeit they all left now
dax 2017-02-28 18:25:39
also, lol irc was perfect as described in rfc1459 and there was definitely any notable implementations that actually stuck to it which i know because i was over the age of 5 at the time
dax 2017-02-28 18:26:08
thumbs: the anti-bot bots saw rather a lot, yes
thumbs 2017-02-28 18:26:37
dax: ok, thanks.
thumbs 2017-02-28 18:26:52
he had a slew of IPv6 hosts.
dax 2017-02-28 18:27:11
yeah. as per usual, the 40+ or whatever was tip-of-iceberg compared to how many got murdered on connect
thumbs 2017-02-28 18:27:25
great, thanks
amnet 2017-02-28 18:29:47
dax: It was designed to function as a single Internet Relay Network. Nickname collision prevented that.
dax 2017-02-28 18:30:38
were you alive in August 1990
dax 2017-02-28 18:31:16
i mean i would expect someone going on about early IRC to at least be that old, but your whois involves a school district so idk
Disconsented 2017-02-28 18:36:13
getting "Please join me on irc.efnet.org #port80 !" spammed a ton
EdLin 2017-02-28 18:36:25
there's a join flood in FreeNAS with a spammer.
EdLin 2017-02-28 18:36:36
er, #freenas
Disconsented 2017-02-28 18:36:53

EdLin 2017-02-28 18:37:10
Disconsented, not surprised there.
dax 2017-02-28 18:37:17
Someone has too much free time on their hands and decided to get some IP ranges murdered by antispam, apparently.
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:37:43
i think i know whose bots those are lol
dax 2017-02-28 18:37:45
JerkJerk: no politics thanks
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:37:53
it had the name raphidae
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:10
that name was promoted on opal's network recently lol
dax 2017-02-28 18:38:22
who gives a crap tbh
dax 2017-02-28 18:38:34
knowing which particular person needs to get a job doesn't really change very much
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:38
i did not see you did but you can kiss me ass
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:43

Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:47
dont be a fuckhead
dax 2017-02-28 18:38:51
you seem angry
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:56
you seem like a dick
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:38:59
there you go
dax 2017-02-28 18:39:20
would that be because you need to get a job or because you spend too much time on opal's network watching people who need to get a job
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:39:42
i was simply saying i guess your one of the staff that are actually opal's trolls
Chico30 2017-02-28 18:39:47
plonk
dax 2017-02-28 18:39:52
lmao
EdLin 2017-02-28 18:40:10
well, anyway, I guess you're aware of the issue.
EdLin 2017-02-28 18:40:13

Chico30 2017-02-28 18:40:14
its funny some of the staff here are not smart enough to change their name or nick rofl

violet 2017-02-28 18:41:36

dax 2017-02-28 18:41:45

Disconsented 2017-02-28 18:41:59

LjL 2017-02-28 16:59:45
enchi, wow, is this channel always like this after some vaguely fascist POTUS makes a speech?
gentoo 2017-02-28 16:59:52
Is terrence online?
gry 2017-02-28 17:00:25
not right now, gentoo
gry 2017-02-28 17:01:42
LjL, alas a few people here over-react to things as it's a large channel and these people don't always have a good judgment - pointing it out to these people could be useful
laowai 2017-02-28 17:01:44
who is terrence
gry 2017-02-28 17:02:07
it's a nick gentoo knows. gentoo just doesn't know how to /whois, so I checked by hand
norkle 2017-02-28 17:05:22
LOL!
laowai 2017-02-28 17:05:36
norkle: what is
luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:07:19
I have terrible anger issues. You can tell by all the swearing and exclamation marks. I type them so strongly they go right past the visible spectrum
laowai 2017-02-28 17:07:47
stop
LjL 2017-02-28 17:07:48
i don't use a lot of swearing and exclamation marks... well, a bit of swearing
LjL 2017-02-28 17:07:57
but you can usually tell i've gotten VERY angry when you see me start going alyghearföiagrhe<9åht42 +ý th8t4 hå
LjL 2017-02-28 17:08:06
that means i'm hitting the keyboard. no joke.
gry 2017-02-28 17:08:49
luckybunny: if you think your anger issues are not interfering with how the channel is run (the people in it being a bit asocial, mind you, needing special guidance to recognize things), it is completely fine - the judgment of that is on you
luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:09:00
I'm notoriously coolheaded, and I have one of those snarky senses of humour that just has to have a last word that wants to be as funny as possible

gentoo 2017-02-28 17:10:51
does freenode offer pop3 email?
gry 2017-02-28 17:11:02

LjL 2017-02-28 17:16:16
nate, and IMAP somehow doesn't allow that because...?
gentoo 2017-02-28 17:16:20
LjL: how late?
LjL 2017-02-28 17:16:46
gentoo, why don't you CTCP TIME me like laowai did to find out? heck, why doesn't the entire channel?
nate 2017-02-28 17:17:10
LjL: IMAP was largely more designed for syncronous email, ie; keep copies on the server and access them from various others. Past that, there's no real harm in either protocol, so not sure where the context of asking why anyone would still use POP3 comes from
tx 2017-02-28 17:17:12
LjL: you expect that to be reliable? :)
nate 2017-02-28 17:17:15
it's not like say, SSL vs TLS
nate 2017-02-28 17:17:15
lol
amnet 2017-02-28 17:17:18
Because it uses more bytes than you just saying it.
LjL 2017-02-28 17:17:31
tx, i *know* that to be reliable.
luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:18:08
I know it to be a mite rude
luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:19:13
Unwanted ctcp goes up there near unwanted pms. Some people *really* mind, some people don't. Others couldn't give a flying....
LjL 2017-02-28 17:19:27
nate, IMAP offers push and access from multiple clients, which is not related to the online vs offline preference, and also allows extensions
LjL 2017-02-28 17:19:30
POP3 is simply obsolete
LjL 2017-02-28 17:19:47
luckybunny, it *is* a PM
LjL 2017-02-28 17:20:18
amnet, well, thankfully i don't pay by the bytes i use
nate 2017-02-28 17:20:27
LjL: Like I said, aimed mainly at people who want to preserve them online, not everyone does :P
LjL 2017-02-28 17:20:28
not sure about others, but not my problem either!
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:20:34
IMAP may offer PUSH but also may require FETCH, depending on the IMAP provider
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:20:43

LjL 2017-02-28 17:20:48
nate, like i said, those advantages have nothing to do with online preserving
amnet 2017-02-28 17:21:00
LjL: Any attempt to interact with the channel is your problem.
LjL 2017-02-28 17:21:33

luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:23:27
If it's installed via apt, it should update itself when available.
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:23:50
if no drivers exist for you ym bluetooth for Ubuntu may require you to wrap a windows version so it works for Ubuntu
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:24:05
I was just wondering if there was a way to fix my bluetooth, I enabled it but it is not working
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:24:23
lowercaseman okay how do I figure that one out, or any suggestions on where to find drivers that work with ubuntu
luckybunny 2017-02-28 17:24:30
If it's something that you downloaded as a .deb, just do that again with the newer version
Gual 2017-02-28 17:24:43
Gayathri: hola
nate 2017-02-28 17:25:26
LjL: You're not really making sense. You state those advantages have nothing to do with online preserving yet multiple-client access is directly related to online preserving. Even if you use IMAP, if you download everything locally to your system and purposely wipe it from the remote mailserver, it's local, you're not gonna access them across multiple clients o.O
nate 2017-02-28 17:25:39
unless you're like running your mailserver locally
nate 2017-02-28 17:25:56
or doing some kind of sync (which would in turn make it not local-only)
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:27:01
carlyanna I have only done this for wireless cards, so this will give you an idea as to what to start looking for with bluetooth : http://bit.ly/2lwSHzt
LjL 2017-02-28 17:27:21
nate, it's perfectly possible, thanks to push and multiple-client support combined, to have any received email immediately pushed to all running clients, and then subsequently delete the received email from the server as you no longer need it, if you don't want to keep it online
LjL 2017-02-28 17:27:48
with POP3, if more than one client attempt to access the same mailbox, an error POP(3?)s on in at least one. that is Not Great ®
nate 2017-02-28 17:27:55
LjL: Which again, would largely defeat the purpose of it being local to a single server, also would rely on all clients, as you said, running :P
nate 2017-02-28 17:27:56
wut
nate 2017-02-28 17:27:57
no?
LjL 2017-02-28 17:28:37
many people have something resembling two clients, one on their computer and one on their phone, and they're virtually always both running.
nate 2017-02-28 17:28:39
No idea what backend pop3 software you've used before but I've certainly never ran into any "Oh man only one login allowed at a time" issues :P
LjL 2017-02-28 17:29:26
nate, well, if you have no idea, i can help you
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:29:30
carlyanna this may also help : http://bit.ly/2lRAoYm the ask-ubuntu site on stack exchange is also a great resource for all questions you may have
LjL 2017-02-28 17:29:33
"The POP protocol requires the currently connected client to be the only client connected to the mailbox." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_Office_Protocol#Comparison_with_IMAP
LjL 2017-02-28 17:29:45
that sounds pretty crystal-clear to me
nate 2017-02-28 17:30:29
LjL: Yes, because all software follow standards/specs to precision. One sec let me reconnect to freenode on port 194, oh wait...
LjL 2017-02-28 17:30:34
way to move goalposts
LjL 2017-02-28 17:30:37
so we're not really talking about POP3
LjL 2017-02-28 17:30:41
we're talking about whatever shit you think applies
LjL 2017-02-28 17:30:43
okay, nevermind then
LjL 2017-02-28 17:30:44
carry on
nate 2017-02-28 17:31:14
Or we're talking about the fact that craptons of things don't follow protocol to spec, but it's okay, I get it, it contradicts your concerns, so it doesn't count, I gotcha
nate 2017-02-28 17:31:15
:P
LjL 2017-02-28 17:31:47
many, if not almost all, real-life POP3 servers cannot support, by design, several clients connecting at the same time
LjL 2017-02-28 17:31:52
you're acting, and quite possibly being, clueless
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:31:55
lowercaseman: thank you so much, really awesome of you to give me a couple of pointers
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:32:01
carlyanna welcome to ubuntu. it's great, and when you solve something, you'll feel very satisfied and learn tons. you'll come to miss interacting with repos on other platforms. I use Homebrew on my Macs so I can use the repos there for things I would do on Ubuntu. I can't live without little command line utilities that run thousands of times faster than GUI apps.
LjL 2017-02-28 17:32:06
and you are also debating dishonestly by redefining established terms on the go
LjL 2017-02-28 17:32:26
i do not respect you, and now i will go do something more productive, like, nothing at all.
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:32:29
I have yet to see a server that can't handle multiple POP connections, and I deal with them all day long
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:32:47
are you just making things up to sound smart LJL? because thats what it looks like
LjL 2017-02-28 17:33:18
yes, providing citations is "making up things"
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:33:20
lowercaseman: I know! I had 3 old laptops collecting dust, did some researrch and just figured out how to boot these babies back up with the world of ubuntu and everytime i learn how to do new things i feel like a champ haha!
LjL 2017-02-28 17:33:21
get lost
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:33:30
Can I ask one more question guys?
LjL 2017-02-28 17:33:33
this is POP3 https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1939
LjL 2017-02-28 17:33:48
read it and if you want to keep discussing this, shut up until you're done reading it
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:33:48
is there a way to add this IRC chat to my desktop or download it as an app of some sort
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:33:49
you provided something about the protocol. as nate said, that doesn't always translate to implementations. you're just speculating
gry 2017-02-28 17:34:08
carlyanna: yes - Quassel IRC client could run on many platforms - www.quassel-irc.org
gry 2017-02-28 17:35:12
LjL: most modern POP servers are a bit silly and allow multiple POP connections even though the standard asks not to do that
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:35:17
gmail and office365, which are probably 2 of the biggest mail servers, can handle multiple pop connections just fine, so again, where are you getting your facts from that most servers can't?
amnet 2017-02-28 17:35:29
LjL: You cited WIkipedia. I'm not fond of the term, but that's an obvious troll tactic.
LjL 2017-02-28 17:35:36
gry, that's because most modern POP servers are just frontends to IMAP servers.
gry 2017-02-28 17:35:42
nchambers: maybe we can update the standard to reflect that and the desired behaviour of a POP server under multiple clients load?
LjL 2017-02-28 17:35:49
which was, like, you know, the entire point.
gry 2017-02-28 17:36:02
LjL: err is that new? It sounds a bit ugly
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:36:09
carlyanna: yes, you will love quassel. you set up one computer to be your "master" IRC client, almost like a server, then connect to it from your other computers. makes managing IRC much easier.
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:36:13
gry: thanks a lot! anyone have any idea what would be a good subscription for me here http://shop.linuxnewmedia.com/us/
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:36:37
carlyanna, also look for ubuntu user groups in your area. you can usually find them on IRC too.
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:36:40
gry: probably just them making up things agian
LjL 2017-02-28 17:36:50
gry, most providers offer both a POP3 and an IMAP server. they have to be provided by the same server software, or all sort of mess will occur. this means that the logic is IMAP-type, since that's practically a superset of what POP3 offers
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:36:58
lowercaseman: how do I do that? How can I search?
gry 2017-02-28 17:37:01
LjL: would you please provide a citation for POP3 being a frontend to IMAP?
LjL 2017-02-28 17:37:13
no, not really
LjL 2017-02-28 17:37:23
i have provided citations and idiots are still mocking me for "making up things"
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:37:27
carlyanna: here's an ubuntu page with a directory of ubuntu user groups. you
LjL 2017-02-28 17:37:29
so as a matter of fact, you can all fuck off and die
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:37:30
oops
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:37:31
you provided citations for the protocol
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:37:37
you'll get mentor like help there
gry 2017-02-28 17:37:38
carlyanna: There is plenty of free mailing lists which provide updates on drupal and Linux administration - not personally familiar with any of the resources listed or with your needs at this particular point in time
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:37:39
which is irrelevant as its not followed
gry 2017-02-28 17:37:40
apologies
nchambers 2017-02-28 17:38:00
you provided nothing to back up your claims about implementations
nate 2017-02-28 17:38:25
I've had some arguments over POP3 before but that guy was acting like he wrote the IMAP protocol or something
nate 2017-02-28 17:38:26
lol
gry 2017-02-28 17:38:37
LjL: please ignore their anger management issues - it's a calm gry wishing to know where you saw that particular fact (it is a bit reasonable if a person's mail client doesn't support imap for some reason, but still a little bit odd to layer things on top of eachother like that)
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:38:39
carlyanna: yes, just search for quassel and what you need and you'll get instructions on all of it. takes a bit to set up but it's super sweet once it's done. and there are very cool themes too.
nate 2017-02-28 17:38:46
gry: he /part'd
gry 2017-02-28 17:38:50
OK
gry 2017-02-28 17:39:02

Disconsented 2017-02-28 17:39:33
their channel is here on freenode
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:39:51
carlyanna: I'm mostly Mac and iOS, so I use Textual, which syncs my IRC settings via iCloud, so I get a similar experience to quassel on my Macs at least, without all the setup.
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:40:06
! I just went to https://launchpad.net/~mamarley/+archive/ubuntu/quassel and installed so i can access often - thanks aain for everything
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:40:33
carlyanna quassel is like it's own world. enjoy.
Speiros 2017-02-28 17:40:46
Back later.
carlyanna 2017-02-28 17:40:55
but i will still be able t ocome here right???
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:41:19
carlyanna: once you connect to Freenode and join the channel, yes.
lowercaseman 2017-02-28 17:42:12
nice thing about IRC is that IRC is just IRC. I can access IRC with my old 1999 Mac.
amnet 2017-02-28 17:43:01
It's not IRC if it has forced PART.
