Fuchs 2017-03-01 07:09:00
u_u: I think I asked you often enough to please kindly drop these random nonsensical inputs, so this is the last time I'll ask.
u_u 2017-03-01 07:09:15
fuck you
u_u 2017-03-01 07:09:28
i was saying hello
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:15:50
Does anyone here understand inspIRCd ? I know that Freenode uses IRCD-Seven.
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:16:55
what do you mean by "understand"?
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:17:13
Have you used it and implemented it on a Linux Box?
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:17:20
sure. it isn't hard
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:17:39
follow the online docs
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:17:54
Well, I will humble myself and ask a few questions if you don't mind.
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:19:21
Backwards: this probably isn't the best channel for this, but if they're simple go ahead. Otherwise you're likely better off asking on a dedicated support channel
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:19:22
One is that I am looking for someone who has set up inspIRCd to delete all of the things in the config file and just show what is the most important things to concentrate on. That would be a big help.
jaydemir 2017-03-01 07:19:41
hello
nemecy 2017-03-01 07:20:03
h
jaydemir 2017-03-01 07:20:07
is there any way for me to get a password reset email?
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:20:09
And then post it on Paste Bin for me. That would make things simple.
e 2017-03-01 07:20:55
jaydemir: you should get one shortly
e 2017-03-01 07:21:11
ftr, /msg nickserv help sendpass
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:21:32
Backwards: they're all important for different things
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:21:50
read the documentation, understand what the config sections do/don't do, and customize to your taste
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:21:54
if you don't understand it, then you should not be running an IRC server
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:21:57
I understand that Skizzerz but I would like to see what needs to be changed and not change any other commands on the .config file.
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:22:18
the vast majority of it needs to be changed
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:22:31
except for the module lines, those can probably stay the same
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:22:44
see https://wiki.inspircd.org/Configuration for more information
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:23:05
Skizzerz, I have an IRCD server running. I don't want to use that one and run inspIRCd on another port.
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:24:04
I've given you as much information as I'm willing to give right now, if you need more assistance than that, ask the inspircd folks on their support network. I'm *not* going to write your config file for you
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:24:08
After that I want to install which is Chanserv.
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:25:29
In all of the homework I have done, inspIRCd must be set up first before Anope.
Skizzerz 2017-03-01 07:25:39
that is correct
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:26:15
I have set up IRCD-IRCD2
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:26:36
It is a generic IRCD daemon as you already know.
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:29:49
can't make my mind up if I should get a gaming chair (I'm on a wooden with no back) or the Bash Bunny by Hak5
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:29:55
opinions?
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:30:56
Backwards don't use IRCD-IRCD2
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:31:01
use UnrealIRCd
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:33:14
Samesepi0l I work with what works in a simple fashion. I try to keep things simple.
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:36:52
Backwards from my experience that I've always had hosting an IRC server, ircd-irc2 was always a bad option for me
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:37:16
Backwards unreal ircd isn't that complicated, it does provide more advanced features though
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:38:05
Sams I agree. There is no or with it and inspIRCd has been with all of my research the best daemon.
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:38:47
Also both have to be . That is a pain.
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:39:16
There is no for it either.
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:39:57
I have also been warned to never install both as .
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:40:48
sudo apt-get install ircd-irc2
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:41:37
As you said: "That is not the best choice."
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:41:39
unrealircd does have to be compiled howeve
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:41:55
so the better option would be the one that takes slightly more work to setup
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:42:17
I just created a fresh install of unreal ircd today in under 10 minutes, so it can't be that hard
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:42:23
IRCD-IRC2 does not have SSL That is the issue.
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:42:46
precisely why I choose unrealircd
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:45:27
Just to let the OPS here know that u_u is transmitting filthy language in private messages. Please take not of it.

Sams are you running a 32 bit or 64 bit machine for IRC server?
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:49:36
64
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:49:43
irc.blackvikingpro.xyz
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:49:50
Nice. i686 machine.
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:50:30
A nice command to check is: uname -p If you are using UNIX or Linux.
ZikZak 2017-03-01 07:50:54
isn't that uname -a ?
fruitpunch 2017-03-01 07:51:10
hi evereyone
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:51:15
yeah I was about to say haha
Backwards 2017-03-01 07:51:38
Yes uname -a means -a correct.
BurningPrincess1 2017-03-01 07:52:28
samsepi0l What is irc.blackvikingpro.xyz ?
samsepi0l 2017-03-01 07:52:48

Backwards 2017-03-01 07:53:58
ZikZak nice point.
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:04:22
is it ok to just go ahead and register a channel on here?
norkle 2017-03-01 08:04:51
absolutely.
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:04:56
SomeT: somewhat, make sure it is in the right namespace
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:05:11
SomeT: unless it is free / open source software or a peer directed project you represent, it should be ##, not #
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:05:26
SomeT: also note that some topics (e.g. games and clans) are better placed on a different network
adlar 2017-03-01 08:12:51
Could I get an unaffiliated cloak please?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:15:39
adlar: having a look
adlar 2017-03-01 08:15:46
Thanks
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:16:10
adlar: sure, there you go, one fresh hand made cloak, still warm
adlar 2017-03-01 08:16:23
awesome thank you much
adlar 2017-03-01 08:16:35
It is very comfy
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:18:24
\o/
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:18:37
then I'm improving, the last few ones choked people
wtf-honey 2017-03-01 08:19:26
it's getting a bit warm for wool anyhow.. better stick to mankini's.
norkle 2017-03-01 08:24:05
was getting a bit chilly at 4am actually put a hood on.
adlar 2017-03-01 08:25:11
It was t-shirt weather yesterday, now snowing today. Good thing this thing has a hood.
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:25:30
my channel is aimed at programming help for http://www.flowgorithm.org/
norkle 2017-03-01 08:25:32
and a singlet
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:25:35
would that be suited on freenode?
norkle 2017-03-01 08:25:56
absolutely.
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:26:43
SomeT: I'm trying to find some licensing information,
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:26:46
is it open source?
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:26:53
no the software itself ain't
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:27:06
its more a programming language in a sense
norkle 2017-03-01 08:27:41
its ok theres a windows channel.
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:28:30
norkle: in the right namespace. Would you mind not interfering?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:28:38
SomeT: did you write that software / language?
kunwon1 2017-03-01 08:28:42
http://www.flowgorithm.org/about/Flowgorithm%20-%20EULA.pdf
kunwon1 2017-03-01 08:28:45
'freeware'
norkle 2017-03-01 08:28:58
sorry Fuchs.
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:29:26
so is that a yes or a no, I can set up a channel with just one #?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:30:00
SomeT: right now to me that's more of a ##, for # I'd let you check with group people, but the most important part is unanswered,
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:30:12
do you represent flowgorithm, as in: did you write it? Because if no, then definitely ## it is
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:31:30
ok
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:31:31
thanks
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:31:49
you're welcome
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:33:18
how do I register a channel? lol
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:35:33
SomeT: see /msg chanserv help register
SomeT 2017-03-01 08:37:03
ok thanks
Kazilla 2017-03-01 08:38:57
Hi, is it possible for me to get an unaffiliated cloak please?
The-Compiler 2017-03-01 08:39:07
chatter29 (171bf963@gateway/web/cgi-irc/kiwiirc.com/ip.23.27.249.99) is doing Allah-spam in #qtwebengine
The-Compiler 2017-03-01 08:39:33
though it stopped currently...
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:41:34
hoi The-Compiler
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:42:19
now it definitely will have stopped.
ShakespeareFan00 2017-03-01 08:42:38
Thank you
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:42:45
ShakespeareFan00: welcome
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:42:50
ShakespeareFan00: consider pastebins :)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:43:17
Kazilla: can you identify to your account, please
ShakespeareFan00 2017-03-01 08:43:19
In my response to the review email, I sent back a commennt asking if there should be a recomended one in the MOTD?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:43:46
we don't have a recommendation, some projects that use freenode have their own, otherwise every generic one (e.g. pastebin.ca) will do
Kazilla 2017-03-01 08:44:25
Fuchs: ah sorry, done :)
ShakespeareFan00 2017-03-01 08:44:47
I leave that to the staffers discretion, but I wouldn't object if there was a general note in the MOTD anyway... And that way the spammers you want to feel pain should know even better
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:45:22
Kazilla: okay, there you go, one fresh paw-made cloak, warm and great looking.
Kazilla 2017-03-01 08:45:46
Fuchs: thanks :)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:45:50

hmm
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:46:12
ShakespeareFan00: yeah, I replied to the ticket, short variant: nobody reads MOTDs unfortunately, and we don't have a generic recommendation
ragazor 2017-03-01 08:46:12
is there a bot that can help me find a guy I'm looking for?
ShakespeareFan00 2017-03-01 08:46:13
Thanks for the fast turn around... I wasexpecting to have to wait to office hores :)
wtf-honey 2017-03-01 08:46:15
Fuchs, it's getting a bit warm for those types of cloaks. lol
ShakespeareFan00 2017-03-01 08:46:28

ragazor 2017-03-01 08:46:54
thank you Fuchs that worked. He doesn't seem to be online
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:46:55
ShakespeareFan00: there is a wait sometimes, but we tend to react rather quickly to these
ragazor 2017-03-01 08:47:01
but he was the day before yesterday
ragazor 2017-03-01 08:47:05
thx <3

wtf-honey 2017-03-01 08:56:22

Soul_ 2017-03-01 08:57:46
Hola!!
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:58:02
well yes, but cheesecake is curd, not cheese (one can argue that curd is cheese, but: not with a Swiss. And no, no it isn't)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:58:42
The-Compiler: if you ever get the chance to put your hands on some Leysieffer: try that, too
mst 2017-03-01 08:58:55
cheesecake is made with cream cheese!
mst 2017-03-01 08:59:07
it's still at the very least cheese-adjacent
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:59:17
curd. That's not cheese. Really not. Adjacent: yes
mst 2017-03-01 08:59:34
anyway, people will try and eat anything: https://twitter.com/FoldableHuman/status/836819177126178820/photo/1
Fuchs 2017-03-01 08:59:40
I mean: it also doesn't even remotely taste like cheese (that's why it's tasty and why I actually eat it)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:00:27
an actual cheese cheesecake would be e.g. https://www.bettybossi.ch/de/Rezept/ShowRezept/BB_GKXX990801_0020A-40-de << this

yes, hi!
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:06:55
more cloaks?

there, done :)
cboltz 2017-03-01 09:07:39
thanks!
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:07:57
if you want to do me a huge favour: can you give me them in the full format, e.g. opensuse/member/SShyukriev? Then I don't have to 1) look up what you guys prefered 2) can be a lazy arse fox and copy & paste
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:08:04
(which will make typos less likely)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:08:07
You're very welcome

Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:16:02
Heartbreakers: I'm afraid I don't understand that question, could you rephrase?
Heartbreakers 2017-03-01 09:16:29
Ok
Heartbreakers 2017-03-01 09:16:45
Oh ya
Heartbreakers 2017-03-01 09:17:12

sakana 2017-03-01 09:50:23
Hello everyone, have I understood it correctly that it is here I go to ask for a unaffiliated cloak?
genec 2017-03-01 09:51:33
sakana: this is the place. be patient for a staff member to see your request.
sakana 2017-03-01 09:52:26
genec, thank you for answering. Ill sit down and take a coffee then ;)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:52:27
sakana: there you go, one fresh hand made cloak :)
sakana 2017-03-01 09:52:45
Fuchs, thank you :)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 09:53:02
you're welcome :)
burninated 2017-03-01 10:03:54
Can I request a nickserv password reset in here?
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:04:09
see /msg NickServ HELP SENDPASS :)
burninated 2017-03-01 10:04:31
thx
Guest94295 2017-03-01 10:04:46
Hi. I'm trying to join #openvpn channel, but it doesn't work. I can join other channels though. What's wrong?
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:05:40
Guest94295: which error message do you get?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:05:45
Guest94295: #openvpn requires you to be registered and identified with services
genec 2017-03-01 10:05:47
Guest94295: #openvpn is +r; only users identified with NickServ can join
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:05:59
ah, yep, I see
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:06:03
Guest94295: if you don't have an account yet, see /msg nickserv help register (think of a good nick first, then /nick to it)
rob0 2017-03-01 10:06:11
I can give you a temporary pass on that if you like
rob0 2017-03-01 10:06:22
(in #openvpn that is)
Guest94295 2017-03-01 10:06:47
rob0 how?
duckgoose 2017-03-01 10:07:02
got the hook up
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:07:04
+r can get overwritten by invites IIRC
Guest94295 2017-03-01 10:07:53
rob0 thank you so much
rob0 2017-03-01 10:08:24
np
Guest94295 2017-03-01 10:10:11
rob0: I get * #openvpn :Cannot send to channel
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:10:26
oh great
rob0 2017-03-01 10:10:28
oh okay, maybe I need to +e you
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:10:31
q Guest*!*@* barjavel.freenode.net 1483754774
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:10:36
maybe he needs to get a better nick :p
rob0 2017-03-01 10:10:39
haha
rob0 2017-03-01 10:10:43
yes
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:10:48
Guest94295: /nick somethingfancy
Guest94295 2017-03-01 10:10:58
lol, I'm noob with IRC
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:10:59
but I guess he needs to leave before?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:11:07
for a quiet? I'd doubt that
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:11:16
oh
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:11:23
because of he can't change nicks whilst quieted
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:11:25
yes, of course
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:11:28
yeah :)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:11:31
so yeah, part, /nick, re-invite
rob0 2017-03-01 10:11:55
he's +e and talking now
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:12:00
yeah, that works
somethingfancy 2017-03-01 10:12:10
time wasted: 10 minutes
Sagan 2017-03-01 10:16:15
duckgoose: if you can help somebody, there is no such thing as "waste" :P
mib8 2017-03-01 10:16:58
is there an step by step guide for using freenode over tor?
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:17:50
mib8: -ish, https://freenode.net/kb/answer/chat at the bottom, links to the additional parts (SASL External) you'll need
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:18:02
so it's not exactly step by step, but should provide all info needed
test2 2017-03-01 10:18:20
hello
duckgoose 2017-03-01 10:20:55
mib8 the problem with a step by step guide is each client is different
test2 2017-03-01 10:21:32
can you see me?
mib8 2017-03-01 10:21:41
Fuchs: How can i change my ircname on irssi?
mib8 2017-03-01 10:21:47
test2: hi
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:22:02
mib8: ircname? the ident, the realname or ... ?
test2 2017-03-01 10:22:29
thank you :)
mib8 2017-03-01 10:22:41
Fuchs: ircname
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:22:50
...
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:23:03
okay, which part of your current thing do you consider "ircname"?
abraxis 2017-03-01 10:24:20
mib8: in ~/.irssi/config - real_name =
mib8 2017-03-01 10:24:38
Fuchs: when I whois myself it shows my username (on my computer) as ircname, for example If i'm using root user, it show ircname=root
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:25:01
so I assume you mean the ident, as you fail to answer my questions,
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:25:18
you can set that with /SET user_name
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:25:26
and then /save and reconnect
mib8 2017-03-01 10:25:44
Fuchs: sry I'm just new to irc :D
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:25:57
yes, hence the "which part of your current thing do you consider "ircname"?"
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:26:14
so the answer to that is, I guess, seinmon, and you can change that with the above setting :)
Fuchs 2017-03-01 10:26:41
if you mean the part in the ()s (the uppercase Seinmon), you want /SET real_name instead (probably you want both)
mib8 2017-03-01 10:27:25
Fuchs: I'll try both, LOL, thanks
yi78 2017-03-01 10:27:44
Hello! Could someone help me for a second? I would like to know how do I register my nickname.
yi78 2017-03-01 10:27:54
In the #python-unregistered channel it is suggested that users come here to ask, so I thought this would be a good oportunity to write here for the first time :^)
genec 2017-03-01 10:28:04
yi78: /msg NickServ help register
yi78 2017-03-01 10:28:34
@genec, thank you very much!
genec 2017-03-01 10:29:28
yi78: on many clients, simply doing "/query NickServ" then in the new tab/window "help register" makes it a little easier
yi78 2017-03-01 10:31:05
genec: Oh, I was unaware of that. I'll read about those commands :)
Internetss 2017-03-01 10:32:05
Nickserv keeps telling me my nickname is temporarily unavailable
genec 2017-03-01 10:32:06
yi78: on many clients, "/query someNickName" opens a new tab/window to private message that user
genec 2017-03-01 10:32:28
Internetss: /msg NickServ help release
Internets 2017-03-01 10:33:33
thank you genec
yi78 2017-03-01 10:33:34
genec: So it should work with any user name if you want to message them directly, right?
genec 2017-03-01 10:34:27
yi78: yes. though some view uninvited PMs as discourteous.
yi78 2017-03-01 10:36:26
Awesome, thanks!
genec 2017-03-01 10:37:21
yi78: good luck and welcome to freenode :D
